On December 7 the tree that will light up Piazza di San Firenze for the holidays was turned on and the “ABF: “Christmas of Hope and Opportunity” video will be distributed from today
As is now tradition, for the Christmas holidays the Andrea Bocelli Foundation is promoting a fundraising campaign to which everyone can offer their own contribution so that Holy Christmas becomes a chance to multiply the benefits of the network of donation and charity.
This is a campaign in which we are all invited to help build a fairer and more charitable and sustainable world. And sustainability is one of the elements that distinguishes ABF’s educational projects, which the fundraiser is dedicated to, and which guarantee access to quality education.
2021 was a special year for ABF as it coincided with the 10th anniversary since its foundation. Thus, the foundation wanted to create a series of in-person and virtual initiatives that could bring everyone together under the banner of hope to top off an important year.
Yesterday, Tuesday December 7, at 7.30 pm in Piazza di San Firenze, the Mayor of Florence Dario Nardella, together with ABF’s President Laura Biancalani, gave life to the lighting of the tree, dedicating it to all the ABF families around the world. They were joined by the Marquis Gondi of Palazzo Gondi and the representatives of the Zeffirelli Foundation, as testament to the institutions present in the piazza that have come together to transform San Firenze into a brilliant social gathering place within the city.
“It is really an amazing gift what the Bocelli Foundation does for Florence and for the many young people who want to get closer to music and culture. We are therefore at their side also in this initiative and we are sure that there will be many who will contribute to the charity campaign for a Christmas that is as supportive and shared as possible for everyone.” – the Mayor of Florence Dario Nardella.
Today, Wednesday, December 8, ABF will launch its “ABF’s Christmas: A Christmas of Hope and Opportunity” video on its social channels (and YouTube), made with the participation of our founder Andrea Bocelli and the students from the “E. De Amicis” pre-school and elementary school in Muccia.
“It is a video set to the notes of “Adeste Fideles” that traces ABF’s first ten years” explained our President Laura Biancalani: “A foundation that started with a family, to then become what it is today, a living laboratory where we work every day to give people and communities the opportunity to live their best lives”.
Therefore, the message from ABF’s staff is: “Christmas is not really Christmas if it is not shared and if our soul is not at peace with having made its own small contribution so that its neighbor in need may also have the opportunity to celebrate it not once, but every day.”
The Andrea Bocelli Foundation would like to express its heartfelt thanks to the city of Florence, to the administrations of the ABF communities in the Marche region, and to our local partner in Haiti, the Fondation St Luc. Our deepest thanks also go to Ledworks and Twinkly for bringing Christmas to ABF and the municipalities of Sarnano, Muccia and Camerino.
We’d also like to thank Coldiretti Toscana, Gruppo Tesi, Sugar Music, SIAE, Almud Edizioni Musicali, Maverick, PPG Studios, Sedici9 and Stranirumori, Omikron Firenze and all the teachers and school employees, Adesso Musica and to all the people who choose to support ABF every day… Because, as our founder reminds us, “Helping your neighbor is a privilege that everyone should exercise with discretion and modesty, according to their own means”.
